Air Washington

The Air Washington project is a consortium of eleven of the state’s community and technical colleges which have received a $20M Department of Labor grant to strengthen our aerospace industry through workforce training. By fall of 2014, Air Washington campuses will train more than 2,600 workers in advanced manufacturing/composites, electronics/avionics, aircraft assembly, and aircraft maintenance.

Aerospace College Readiness, Pre-Employment, and Assembly

This folder contains course content for college readiness, pre-employment, and aerospace assembly on subjects ranging from applied math and computer basics to soldering and shop safety.

Advanced Manufacturing

This program prepares workers for aerospace manufacturing careers. The demand for skilled machinist/CNC operators, composite technicians and fabricators, sheet metal workers, production supervisors and sorters/inspectors/samplers are steadily increasing over the next decade. Their work involves knowing and understanding the manufacturing process, the way the machines work, and what the finished products should be like. Program lengths can vary from 24-weeks for a certificate to two-years for a degree.

Electronics/Avionics

This program prepares students for a career in electronics with a focus on aerospace avionics. Learn to design, build, repair, calibrate, and modify electrical components, circuitry, controls, and machinery such as industrial controls, transmitters, and antennas for aircraft.

Airframe and Powerplant

Graduates of an FAA approved program will be prepared to test for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) General, Airframe and Powerplant certificates. Aviation maintenance technicians are qualified to perform service or make repairs on all types and sizes of private and commercial aircraft, including airplanes, helicopters, and their propulsion systems.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control

QA/QC is the combination of quality assurance, the process or set of processes used to measure and assure the quality of a product, and quality control, the process of meeting products and services to consumer expectations. Quality Assurance is process oriented and focuses on defect prevention, while quality control is product oriented and focuses on defect identification.
